Limp vellum binding

With instructor Stacie Dolin

Sponsored by the North Bennet Street School (NBSS)

The limp vellum binding is one of the most beautiful traditional structures. Using calf vellum covers, alum-tawed hide, and bone clasps, students make their own model of this binding. Students learn the herringbone stitch, hand-sewn headbands and the lacing in and covering of this flexible, durable binding that dates from the fourteenth century.

If you don’t already own bookbinding tools, expect to spend approximately $200 on tools for this course, in addition to tuition.
